Athletic Teams Finish Big in 2015-2016

Some Crusader teams or athletes broke long-standing athletic records in multiple sports. Crusader athletic teams that didn’t set new records set the bar high for next year by advancing in post-season tournaments.

Three teams won District Championships in the 2015-2016 school year: Football, baseball, and girls soccer. The Varsity Crusader Football Team finished in the State Quarterfinals, while the Varsity Crusader Baseball and Varsity Crusader Girls Soccer Teams finished at the State Sectional tournament.

Volleyball, boys soccer, girls basketball, and boys track all finished second in District playoffs. Wrestling, cross country, and track and field sent individual qualifiers to State tournaments.

In some cases, new records were set for Lutheran North. Among them was the girls 4x100 meter relay team (Kaiah Farid, Jayla Pierce, Leah Hodges and Jordyn White), who broke the school record in the State preliminaries with a time of 48.84. They won 1st in the State finals with a time of 49.05.Class of 2016 graduate Zoe Hamber set a Lutheran North record by winning the 800m, 1600m and 3200m races in the same meet.

The following records were set in football:
  • Most TD Passes in a Season - 32 (Aqeel Glass)
  • Most Kickoffs in a Season - 88 (Austin Betts)
  • Most Extra Points in a Game - 10 (Tim Branneky)
  • Most Rushing Yards in a Game - 278 (Donovan Marshall)
  • Most TD Passes in a Game - 7 (Aqeel Glass)
  • Most Kickoffs in a Game - 11 (Austin Betts)

As Lutheran North reflects on big wins in the 2015-2016 school year, we look forward to the next school year’s athletic seasons as new teams prepare to make their mark on the Crusader Athletic program.
