● Specific Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Summary of Duties and Areas of Responsibilities: The teacher’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Teach knowledge and skills in art, including, but not limited to: drawing, painting, design, lettering, art history, ceramics, photography
● Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
● Understand a variety of “masters” techniques
● Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
● Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
● Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community
● Sponsor outside exhibits when appropriate
● Participate in extracurricular and other developmental programs, such as an after-school art club
● Maintain appropriate professional interaction with students, parents, administrators, co-workers, and other colleagues
● Attend school functions, faculty meetings, in-service events, conferences, and workshops
● Strive for personal growth and professional development
● Diligently keep and report student records (attendance, grades, etc.)
● Additional duties as assigned Qualifications:
● Espouse and minister in accordance with the school’s philosophy of Christian education and the Lutheran church (LCMS)
● Excited to work in a diverse, urban setting
● Possess a current teaching certificate from the State of Missouri or equivalent
● Prefer a minimum of 5 years teaching experience
● Organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
● Ability to deliver teaching instruction in accordance with approved curriculum and standards
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
