Cross Family Scholar Fund in Honor of Kevin Cross
Kevin Lamonte Cross graduated from Lutheran High School North in 1975. After attending St. Louis Public Schools for his elementary education, Kevin spent his time at North as a member of the track team and football team. He also met his wife Rhonda, class of 1976 at Lutheran North. The high school sweethearts would go on to marry in May 1986.
After his high school graduation, Kevin attended Arizona State University, where he majored in Business Administration. Kevin was proud of the career he built working as the Purchasing Director at St. Louis Public Schools, and as the Director of Purchasing and Supplier Diversity at the Hazelwood School District. He loved the people he worked with and the business aspect of his career.
Kevin was a devoted husband for 33 years until his passing, and the father of two lovely children, Sydney and Louis. An avid sports fan, Kevin enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, the St. Louis Blues, and his beloved Crusader teams at Lutheran North. In his free time, his hobbies included being an electronics guru, golfing, and video gaming.
Kevin was raised to be a Christian man. In 1960, he became a member of Cote Brillante Presbyterian Church and served as one of the first altar boys. Kevin was then confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Philip’s Evangelical Lutheran Church here in St. Louis. His love for the church never faltered and he became a passionate supporter of the Gillespie Scholarship Fund, named after the pastor who served at Cote Brillante for 53 years. Kevin believed in giving back to his community and supporting high quality education for future generations.
In January 2020, the Kevin and Rhonda Cross Family Scholarship Fund was established at Lutheran North. Every year, qualifying students are awarded the Cross Family Scholarship in memory and honor of Kevin.
