The Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis is seeking to hire a Tennis Coach at the Lutheran North Middle and High School campus for the 2025–2026 school year. Summary of Duties and Areas of Responsibilities: The employee’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Model exemplary Christian discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
Model exemplary Christian character, discipline, and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, school administration, and athletic trainer.
Instruct players on fundamental and advanced tennis techniques.
Develop and implement comprehensive practice and training schedules, including preseason, regular season, and postseason plans.
Organize and conduct team tryouts, communicate selections to the Athletic Director, and ensure a fair and transparent selection process.
Evaluate player abilities and develop effective match strategies and lineups.
Foster personal growth, sportsmanship, and mental toughness in student-athletes.
Encourage academic success and emphasize the importance of balancing athletics and academics.
Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and MSHSAA regulations governing the sport.
Arrange and supervise travel, practices, matches, and tournaments.
Maintain accurate records of player attendance, performance, and team activities.
Promote a safe environment by monitoring proper use of equipment, enforcing safety protocols, and responding appropriately to injuries or concerns.
Stay current on coaching techniques, strategies, and professional development to continually enhance the program.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (college degree or prior head coaching experience preferred).
Current CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season start).
Demonstrated tennis coaching or competitive playing experience; prior head coaching experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of a team program.
Ability to work effectively with students and adults in a diverse, urban school environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; approachable and team-oriented.
Commitment to student-athlete development, safety, and upholding the school’s mission and values.
Knowledge of MSHSAA rules and tennis competition formats.
