We’re growing again! Lutheran High School South is seeking a qualified educator to teach all levels of the STEM curriculum beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. This part or full-time position requires a credentialed teacher (or minimally, a professional who is willing to pursue teacher certification) who has a passion for the ministry, is enthusiastic about building relationships, and is driven by teaching the content to high school students.
General Essential Duties
Integrates Biblical principles and Christian worldview throughout curriculum
Teaches skills, knowledge, and concepts following approved curriculum and appropriate learning activities to enable students to achieve established course standards of achievement
Utilizes a variety of methodologies of instruction using educational equipment, books, and learning aids
Prepares well-developed lesson plans according to school policy and course objectives
Adapts teaching methods and materials to meet student needs, interests, and abilities
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an effective learning environment
Communicates with students, parents, other faculty, staff, counselors and administrators regarding academic and behavioral issues
Maintains appropriate professional interaction with students, parents, administrators, co-workers, and other colleagues
Attends school functions, faculty meetings, in-service events, conferences, retreats, and workshops
Strives for personal professional development
Meets the physical demands generally necessary for effective teaching
Specific Experience and Knowledge Required for Position
Developing Arduino projects and software troubleshooting.
Digital design tools and 3D printing of project parts. Experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
System design and prototyping of projects that include software development, manufacturing, and assembly.
Use of power and machine tools and knowledge of basic wood construction.
Use of Autodesk Inventor to design and print parts for projects (gears, structural assemblies, etc.).
Basic electronics skills including wiring, use of breadboards and soldering.
Basic programming skills using the Arduino family of microcontrollers.
Ability to guide students through prototyping and build processes.
Ability to provide software troubleshooting and support to students and other STEM teachers.
Experience with FIRST Robotics is a plus.
Compensation Package and Terms of Service
The salary and benefit package is dependent on the level of education and experience. The faculty member’s offer of employment shall be on an annual basis. It is assumed that, given positive performance review related to the professional development program, employment will be ongoing. Status on the LCMS official roster (Divine Call) shall be made available to individuals who qualify.
