North Will Make its First State Appearance

Lutheran North 2, Cole Camp 1 (overtime) • Junior wing Wayea Halloweger scored a pair of goals, including the decisive tally with just over four minutes left in the first overtime as the Crusaders earned a spot in the Class 2 state semifinals.

He pounced on a bobble after the Crusaders pressured the Cole Camp goal and knocked in the winner for North.

“It was all extra effort,” Lutheran North coach Jamie Frisella said. “That's the type of energy we need.”

North will be making its first state appearance when it takes on Barstow (11-8) at 2 p.m. Friday.

Cole Camp tied it in the second half but Frisella said he saw plenty of positives, despite his team giving up a lead.

“We stayed very tenacious and kept our spirits high,” Frisella said. “We worked better as a unit the entire second half. The difference was really to keep the intensity as high as possible.”

Senior Greg Carr earned the win in goal for North (9-15).
