  • National Merit Commended Student

Last fall over 1.6 million students took the 2016 Preliminary SAT test. This test is also the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Ted Laesch has been named as Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. To qualify for this honor, Ted scored in the top 5% of the test takers, demonstrating outstanding potential for academic success.
Ted currently takes an independent study class, with Mr. Kersten as his mentor, in order to concentrate his efforts on mastering computer programming. One of the ways Ted has helped LHSN is through this avid interest in programming. Last year, at Mr. Dixon’s request, Ted wrote a program that pulls Saved to Serve data from a spreadsheet and composes individual email updates for each student. This program, though it may sound simple, is really quite complicated and has greatly reduced the amount of time it takes to inform students about their Saved to Serve progress. We congratulate Ted on his testing accomplishment and thank him for all of his contributions at Lutheran North.
