A Message from our Principal During Our Nation's Unrest
Greetings Lutheran North Family and Friends,
Our world has been hit hard with the events of COVID-19 and now with the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. These events are heartbreaking. As a school and community, it is important for our student body, faculty, staff, and alumni to know that we grieve with those who are grieving. We, too, are sad. We are upset. We don’t understand how these injustices can continue happening. We long for equity, justice, and an end to systemic racism.
Lutheran North sits on the border of North St. Louis County and St. Louis City. As a result, we attract outstanding students from various backgrounds and a variety of life experiences. Here at Lutheran North, we take pride in being “a diverse educational community whose unity is in Jesus Christ.”’ Jesus loves all of us! This is our most important teaching, and it’s a message we share each and every day.
Jesus Himself bids us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31) and did so precisely while rejecting racial preference (cf. Good Samaritan, Luke 10:25–37). During this trying time, know we are praying for peace and for God-pleasing change in our sinful world. It is critical that we all continue, first, trusting God and, secondly, supporting one another in love in our prayers, words, and deeds.
Even though it’s summer, we are still here for you! Please let us know how we can help. Sometimes we all need someone who will listen. Specifically, beyond myself, our Director of Counseling, Mrs. Cindy Burreson, and our Campus Pastor, Rev. Mark Femmel, along with the faculty, staff, and administration are available to meet with you in person or virtually.
